Dairy Farm Testing

The Beginning:

After initial discussions with Dairy Farm specialists at universities in New York and Idaho, the idea that a triple buffered, low pH acid product could be beneficial in lowering the amount of copper sulphate used by dairy farms turned a product concept into a product reality.  Healthy Hooves™ was lab tested for three months before field trials began.

Field Trials: 

Two well-managed dairy farms in Idaho began field trials in February 2005 using Healthy Hooves™, under the name pHL-Copper Delivery System at a rate of 4 litres of Healthy Hooves to 200 litres of water.  One farm had 5,500 cows and was using 20 kilos of Copper Sulfate in each footbath. The other farm had 1,000 cows and was using 10 kilos of Copper Sulphate in their footbaths. Both farms could string only 250-300 cows through a footbath before the bath had to be changed.

For the next ten months or until November 2005, both farms consistently used  Healthy Hooves™and were able to incrementally reduced their use of Copper Sulfate in their footbaths to only 3 kilos while stringing 500 plus cows through the bath. The results were outstanding!  Hoof Trimmers who were involved every step of the trials were very impressed with Healthy Hooves™ ability to reduce Copper Sulphate use and successfully prevent hoof warts.

After reviewing all test results, in December 2005 the name Healthy Hooves™--the Copper Delivery System™ was trademarked.

 Today both test farms continue to use Healthy Hooves™ with outstanding results. By June of 2006 approximately 150 new farms are using Healthy Hooves™ with equally outstanding results. The number of farms is growing daily with over 100,000 cows walking through a footbath containing Healthy Hooves™.
